The Contribution of Psychomotricity to the Development of Social and Emotional Competences

The Contribution of Psychomotricity to the Development of Social and Emotional Competences Following the re-organization of special education in Switzerland, children with behavioral problems and learning disabilities will be schooled within the regular classroom. This inclusive setting requires high social and emotional skills of all the children involved. When psychomotricity is applied in the school, its stress lies on prevention and integration. It aims at the development and strengthening of the children’s social and emotional competences and thus helps them to meet the challenges of a more diverse school.
At the Dutch seminar for psychomotor therapists, we want to present and discuss important theoretical concepts which we have begun to formulate in the context of our on-going research on „The Contribution of Psychomotricity to the Development of Social and Emotional Competences.”
